Promote a Framer template where buyers already look: a Community feed post when you publish, then X, LinkedIn, Dribbble, your own storefront and, for bigger releases, Product Hunt. Framer lets you sell the same template on other platforms and you keep all the revenue from paid sales, so a storefront of your own is worth building. Make every asset in one session: record the live preview on desktop and phone, take matching stills, and cut each channel's version from those masters. You can do it with your Mac's screen recorder and an editor, or with GlidePage, a Mac app for Apple Silicon that records smooth 4K scrolls and stills of the preview URL.

Publishing a Framer template takes minutes now. Since Framer 3.0 in June 2026 there is no review, so a template goes live the moment you submit it. That also means more templates arrive every day, and Framer is direct about what the Community does and does not do: "Community is a feed and discovery surface, not a guaranteed distribution channel."
The same announcement gives creators plain advice: build an audience, talk about your work, keep posting and sharing updates, and treat the Marketplace as one channel in a larger business. This guide turns that into a plan: where to post, what each channel wants, and how to make every asset from one recording session of your live preview, so promoting a template does not eat a week.
Where Framer template buyers look#
| Channel | Who you reach | What to post | Effort |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framer Community | People already browsing templates | The listing, plus a feed post with context | Low, and do it on day one |
| X | Framer creators, founders, freelancers | A short loop and a line on who it is for | Low, repeat with each update |
| Founders, agencies, clients | A loop or a still with a short story | Low to medium | |
| Dribbble | Designers and people hiring them | Stills or a short video shot | Medium |
| Product Hunt | Early adopters, other makers | A full launch: video, gallery, description | High, keep it for bigger releases |
| Your own storefront | People who already know your work | Every template in one place, with a hero loop | Medium, once |
Two of these deserve a closer look.
The Community feed post. When you publish, Framer offers an optional post for the Community feed, and its help article notes that adding context about your work can help visibility in the For You and Hype feeds. Write a few lines on who the template is for and what is different about it, and attach your best loop or cover image.
Your own storefront. Framer's help says you can sell a template through other marketplaces and platforms too, and on paid templates listed in the Community you keep 100% of each sale. Free templates can earn affiliate income when people sign up for Framer through them. Either way, a page of your own that collects your templates is the one channel nobody can rank you out of.
One recording session, every asset#
Every channel above wants a slightly different file, but they all show the same thing: your live preview. So capture it once, properly, and cut versions from the masters.
Before you start, get the preview ready: real copy instead of placeholder text, no test widgets, the cookie banner dealt with, and the intro working on a fresh load. Then record this set:
| Asset | Device and shape | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Desktop loop | Laptop frame, 16:9, 4K | Feed post, X, LinkedIn, storefront hero, the listing if it takes video |
| Phone loop | Phone frame, 9:16, 4K | Reels, TikTok, Shorts, vertical posts on X and LinkedIn |
| Square loop | Laptop or phone, 1:1 | X and LinkedIn feeds, where square takes more room |
| Cover still | Laptop frame, 16:9 PNG | Listing cover, checkout page, Product Hunt gallery |
| Section stills | Same frame, scrolled to key sections | Listing images, Dribbble, gallery slides |
| 4:5 stills | Laptop or phone | An Instagram carousel |
| Dark versions | Same as above, dark theme | A second post a week later |
Keep the frame, background and theme the same across the set, so a buyer who sees the template on X recognises it in the Community. Animated thumbnails for Framer templates covers how to make the loops short and jump-free, and Framer Marketplace requirements covers the listing images.
Running the session by hand#
The free route uses your Mac's screen recorder and a video editor.
1. Record the desktop and phone versions
Open the preview, size the browser window for the desktop clip, press Shift-Command-5, choose Record Selected Portion around the page area, and scroll slowly through the hero and two or three key sections. For the phone clip, switch your browser's responsive mode to a phone preset and record again.
2. Take the stills
Capture the viewport at the same scroll positions, for desktop and phone, in light and dark if the template has both.
3. Frame, crop and export
Place clips and stills into device frames in Keynote, iMovie or another editor, on one background. Export a 16:9, a 9:16 and a 1:1 version of each loop.
It works, but it is slow to repeat. Hand scrolling wobbles, heavy pages drop frames, your display caps the resolution, and every update to the template means doing it all again. How to make a scrolling video of a website compares the methods.
Running the session with GlidePage#
GlidePage is a Mac app that turns any web page into a smooth scrolling video or a sharp still. Paste the preview URL once, then change the device, shape or theme and record again for each asset:
- Desktop and phone from one link. MacBook, iMac and Safari window frames for the desktop layout; current iPhones, Pixels and Galaxy phones for the mobile one, loaded with a real phone user agent and viewport.
- Any shape. 16:9, 9:16, 1:1, 4:5 or 4:3 on a background, so the square and vertical cuts come straight out of the app.
- Loops that look intentional. The intro plays from the start, up to 10 Pauses hold the scroll for 0.5 to 5 seconds each on the sections that sell, and six motion curves set the pace.
- Stills to match. Photo mode saves a 4K PNG from any point on the page, in the same frame and background. On a background the aspect ratio applies: a 4:5 photo of a MacBook Pro 14 frame is 2160 × 2700.
- Light and dark. The page theme setting records templates that follow the device's appearance in either mode.
- A transparent version for your storefront. With the frame on and no background, it exports a ProRes 4444 MOV for editors or a VP9 WebM with alpha for websites, which plays transparent in Chrome, Edge and Firefox (Safari plays it without transparency). Transparent exports need a license.
For timing: on a MacBook Air M4, a 22.7-second 4K, 60 fps laptop clip rendered in about 4.5 minutes, and an HD, 30 fps version in about 2.5. Finished jobs stay on the Mac for 24 hours, so you can download a file again. Nothing is uploaded; it needs an Apple Silicon Mac with macOS 12 or later, and there is a free 7-day trial with no card needed (trial exports carry a small "captured with GlidePage.app" watermark).
What each channel wants#
The details live in dedicated guides; this is the short version.
| Channel | Give it | Rules worth knowing | Details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Framer Community | The listing images, plus a feed post with your best loop or cover | Context helps visibility in For You and Hype | Framer Marketplace requirements |
| X | A 16:9 or 1:1 MP4, 15 to 30 seconds | The first second decides whether people stop | Website video for LinkedIn and X |
| An MP4 loop, or a still with a story | Square and vertical take more feed space | Website video for LinkedIn and X | |
| Dribbble | Stills, or a short MP4 or MOV | At least 1600 px wide recommended; images up to 10 MB, video up to 20 MB | Choose the thumbnail with Crop/Select thumbnail |
| Product Hunt | A YouTube video, gallery stills, a square thumbnail | Video must be a full, non-private YouTube URL; gallery images 1270 × 760, at least 2; GIF thumbnails under 3 MB, animated only on hover | Website launch video |
| A 4:5 carousel of stills | Keep every slide the same shape | Website mockups for Instagram | |
| Reels, TikTok, Shorts | The 9:16 phone loop | Keep text clear of the platform's buttons | Vertical website videos |
| Your storefront | A small looping MP4 and a poster image | Loop forward then back so it never jumps | Landing page hero video |
| Checkout page | The cover still | Must clearly show the product and price | See below |
Your storefront and checkout pages#
Framer does not process payments for Community products. For a paid template you sell through a payment platform of your choice (Framer's help names Contra, Stripe and Gumroad as examples) and paste the checkout URL into the listing. That checkout must go straight to payment, clearly show the product and a price that matches the listing, need no login, and include a refund or cancellation policy.
Since you need that checkout anyway, link it from your own site too. A simple storefront, built in Framer if you like, works well with:
- A hero loop of your best template, or a short reel of several, recorded as above.
- One card per template with the cover still, a line on who it is for, and links to the live preview and the checkout.
- The same images everywhere. The cover on your storefront, the checkout page and the Community listing should match, so buyers know they are in the right place.
For a device that floats over your own page design, use the transparent WebM; transparent video on a website shows how to give Safari a file that works.
A simple two-week plan#
You do not need a launch campaign for every template. A steady rhythm works better than one big push:
- Day 0. Publish the listing with the full image set, and write the Community feed post with your best loop.
- Day 0 or 1. Post the desktop loop on X and LinkedIn, with one line on who the template is for and a link to the listing. Reply to everyone who comments.
- Day 2 or 3. Post a Dribbble shot with the cover and section stills, and the phone loop on your vertical channels.
- Week 2. Share something new: the dark version, a page you added, or a site someone built with the template (with their permission).
- When it matters. Keep Product Hunt for a bigger release, such as a bundle, a free template or a major update. How to make a website launch video covers that kit.
Each update is a reason to post again, and Framer's advice to keep updating the product and sharing updates applies to every channel.
Why a template is not selling#
Since September 2026, Marketplace Analytics shows visitors, views and usage for each resource over time, plus where it ranks in the Marketplace and its categories. Framer also updated its ranking to reflect changes in performance sooner. Use it to find where people drop off:
| What you see | Likely cause | What to try |
|---|---|---|
| Few views | Not enough people see it | A feed post with context, posts on X and LinkedIn, and only relevant categories |
| Views but few buyers or remixes | The cover does not show what the template is | A clearer cover, an animated thumbnail, a phone image |
| Preview visits but few sales | The preview disappoints | Check the mobile breakpoint, the intro, broken links and placeholder text |
| Sales fade after launch | Newer templates are getting the attention | Ship an update and post about it |
| Buyers ask the same questions | The description leaves gaps | Add setup steps and limitations to the description |
Promotion checklist#
- Preview polished: real copy, no test widgets, intro working on a fresh load.
- One session: desktop and phone loops, square cut, cover and section stills, 4:5 stills, dark versions.
- Listing published with matching images, and a feed post with context.
- X and LinkedIn posts with the loop and a link.
- Dribbble shot at least 1600 px wide.
- Storefront page with the hero loop, previews and checkout links.
- Checkout shows the product, the matching price and a refund policy.
- A reason to post again in week two.
- Marketplace Analytics checked after a week.
Most templates do not fail because they are bad. They fail because too few of the right people see them in motion. Record the preview once, well, and give every channel its version.

Questions, answered
Where should I post a new Framer template?
Start in Framer Community with the listing and a feed post that explains who the template is for. Then post a short loop on X and LinkedIn, a shot on Dribbble and the phone version on vertical channels. Add it to your own storefront so people who already follow your work can find it.
Can I sell my Framer template outside Framer?
Yes. Framer's help article on publishing templates says you can also sell a template through other marketplaces and platforms. Paid templates in the Community use your own external checkout anyway, so linking the same checkout from your own site is straightforward.
Should I launch a Framer template on Product Hunt?
For a bigger release, such as a bundle, a free template or a major update, it can be worth it. Product Hunt only accepts video as a YouTube link and recommends gallery images of 1270 × 760, so plan the assets in advance. For a single new template, a Community post and posts on X and LinkedIn are usually a better use of the time.
Why is my Framer template not selling?
Check Marketplace Analytics first. Few views means too few people see it, so post more and with context. Views without sales usually point to a cover that does not show what the template is, or a preview that disappoints on mobile.
What should a Framer Community feed post include?
A few lines on who the template is for and what makes it different, plus your best visual: a short loop of the live preview or the cover image. Framer notes that context about your work can help visibility in the For You and Hype feeds.
Do I need a video to promote a Framer template?
Not strictly, but motion shows what stills cannot: the intro, scroll effects and how the sections flow. A short silent loop works on X, LinkedIn, Dribbble, your storefront and the feed. You can record one with the Mac's screen recorder, or with GlidePage for a smooth 4K scroll.
